FAQ's
The air that we breathe contains around 21% Oxygen with the remaining majority made up of mostly nitrogen and other gases that the body doesn’t need. An Oxygen concentrator takes in this air and separates it through a row of molecular sieves which contains a non-hazardous chemical, leaving a high concentration of Oxygen of around 90%.
The Portable Oxygen Concentrators we stock are all different. They vary in size, weight, battery life, warranty length, how much each machine is capable in delivering oxygen and more. We offer both on demand and continuous flow concentrators. At Intermedical, we consider these factors when recommending you a Portable Oxygen Concentrator
Suitability – Judging by your prescription, we can tell which units would be suitable and which are not.
The Long Term – Unfortunately Chronic lung conditions such as COPD & Emphysema are progressive meaning flow rates can change as time goes on. We ensure the Portable Oxygen Concentrator we recommend will be potentially suitable for use in the long term as well as now.
Your happiness – We do not forget why you came to us in the first place. Your freedom and independence are our priority. To ensure this happens, we will try our best to recommend a solution that is not only suited to your needs for the short and long term but to enable the freedom of doing things you couldn’t do before.

I am on 2 Litres per minute – What Portable Oxygen Concentrator would work for me? We can tell you which portable oxygen concentrators are suitable purely based on their specification. Flow rates on concentrators are approximate and there are many other factors to consider.Call us freephone on 0800 028 2194
All Portable Oxygen Concentrators we supply deliver oxygen to the patient using On-Demand flow, also known as Pulse Flow via the use of a nasal cannula. This is where a patient gets a “shot” of oxygen every time the portable oxygen concentrator detects inhalation. The amount of oxygen inhaled within that “shot” works out to be around the same if you were inhaling on a continuous flow oxygen concentrator.
Most portable oxygen concentrators that run an “on-demand” oxygen system have settings which are approximately equivalent to the litre per minute selected on the device.
